Made some GREAT brownies for an opening night cast party yesterday.

Very similar to the brown butter “Bon Appetit” recipe I re-post constantly, but much easier.

Topped them off with a layer of white chocolate so I could doodle some hearts on top…

My knock-off Raspberry Elegance cake

I’ve done this faux-Publix cake before for my parent’s anniversary last year, but this one was much more successful.

*Creamcheese frosting is my own, simple recipe just added a touch of almond extract to match some flavors in white cake

**If using Martha recipe, note that in the recipe it leaves out a crucial step. Whip the egg whites and heavy cream until thick consistency or cake will not rise

Lamby cake with very much an afterthought this year.

My 4 year old niece did a great job helping decorate but was a bit heavy handed with the sprinkles :)

On another note…I’m back! Sorry for my sorely missed dessert-absence.

I’m back in a kitchen and have a lot of recipes to try out!

Here is my offering: Welcome home dinner for me:

-Beautiful Seafood Risotto and scallops (my brother made homemade fish stock, WTF)

-My brother’s bday gift to me; Nutella Cheesecake/Brownie bars

-My bday gift to my brother;Lemon/Basil/Strawberry cupcakes, filled with Raspberry preserves and fresh strawberries, topped with a basil-infused whipped cream-marscapone topping..and and a lil’ sugared strawberry

It’s Strawberry season in FL if you haven’t noticed

Here’s the Cupcake recipe (sans filling and topping, I made those guys up…Also to the recipe add lemon juice and basil to the chopped strawberries):
